AU tax deduction check

Enter your WFH days, vehicle use, tools, uniform, self-education, and union fees. Podge estimates the total deduction and flags anything likely to attract ATO attention.

What this means

No waffle. Just the number and how it was worked out.

Formula used

WFH: days × hours × 67c/hr (fixed rate) or estimated actual cost. Vehicle: km × ATO cents-per-km rate (88c for 2024). Other expenses totalled. Flags raised where claims exceed $300 without full receipts.

Worked example

An employee working from home 3 days a week, claiming 2,000 vehicle km and $400 in tools (with receipts) could reasonably claim A$4,200+ in deductions.

Common questions

What is the ATO's fixed rate for WFH?
From 2022–23, the ATO allows 67 cents per hour for working from home. This covers electricity, internet, phone, and stationery. You must keep a record of hours worked from home.

Do I need receipts for every claim?
For individual expenses over $300, yes — you need receipts. For claims under $300 in total (across all expense types), you can claim without receipts but you must be able to demonstrate the expenses were incurred.
